Welcome to Class 5

Thank you for visiting our class page.

We are now in Year 2, the oldest children in Key Stage 1 and we are ready for an exciting year.

Welcome to Class 5
Our teachers this year are Mrs Heerin and Mrs Kennedy and our teaching assistant is Miss
Hobson. We also have Mrs Deaton with us every morning.

What a great start we have already had in Class 5. This year will be exciting and jam-packed
with activities such as building fire engines, sitting round a fire pit and visiting our bee hives.
As well as our core subjects, we will be embracing our new Creative Curriculum where we
will travel back in time to learn about the great fire of London, explore and investigate life under water in science and putting our fine motor skills to the test when creating puppets in DT.

Religious Education is such an important aspect of our school community. In RE, we will
study themes such as new beginnings, treasures and thanksgiving which help us to explore
the blessed sacraments.
This really will be an exciting year – as we will celebrate our academic successes, our
developing skills and growing talents.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and returned on a Thursday via Google Classroom.
We will have a spelling test on a Thursday morning. We have launched our reading at home challenge. Get a certificate for every 25 times you read at home. Get to 125 and you will receive a special prize. Good luck!
Our PE days are Monday and Wednesday. Children are expected to wear the full school PE
kit. We hope to have an amazing year together, learning lots of new things and growing together.

We are actors.

We are Historians.

We are Mathematicians.

We are artists.

We have hopes and dreams.
