Vision Statement for Music

My vision as Music lead has been to encourage the use of music throughout all lessons and everyday school life.  These should not be restricted to just one lesson, but contribute to the ongoing school life and ethos. I believe that creativity is the key to learning and that using music or drama within a lesson can help inspire and engage children of all abilities. It is my vision to spread the love of music with the children at Christ the King and teachers also.  I plan to achieve this by promoting a love of music through whole school hymn practice and extra-curricular musical clubs.

Christ the King additionally have a wonderful school choir, who represent the school during weekly assemblies.  It is my vision through the choir, that singing is practiced and enjoyed throughout the whole school and that musical interest can also grow within the children.

Our music scheme in Christ the King is Charanga. It is my aim to ensure that Charanga is being used weekly in classrooms in order for those important musical skills to be accessed. I will do this by offering help and guidance to all staff to ensure full knowledge of the scheme and the confidence to deliver this to children.

Foundation Stage – Charanga

Charanga is our music scheme in school and takes us through the music curriculum from keeping pulse to simple notation.

Year 1 used drama as part of their English lesson. Here, they acted the story of the Three Little Pigs in groups and performed it to the rest of the class.

As part of the R.E topic, Year 1 learnt an Our Father song and learnt this as assemble. A group of 4 children sang the first verse of the song on their own, where the rest of the class joined in for the second verse.
